What is Botox and How Does it Work? in Frankfurt, Germany

Botox is a neuromodulator, that means it inhibits / weakens the signal transduction between nerves and muscles. As a consequence, the muscle will not be able to contract and will be weakened. Facial wrinkles caused by the facial mimic muscles, like forehead lines, frown lines, the „11“ (the lines between the eyebrows), and crows feet can therefore be successfully treated with Botulinum toxin injections. Facial muscles act like other muscles in our body as agonists and antagonists. Depending on what effect is desired, these principles of muscle action and counter action can be used to improve some aging signs, like subtle elevation of a ptotic eyebrow, or alternating the eyebrow shape by creating a subtle arch laterally for a more youthful appearance.

Botox For Blepharospasms, Torticollis, Hyperhidrosis and Migraines

Botulinum toxin has not only been used for cosmetic reasons but also for medical problems. Botox is used to treat uncontrolled muscle contractions, like for example blepharospasms and torticollis (muscle spasms of the neck). Botox treatments have also been shown to treat certain types of migraines, where certain trigger points are released by the neuromodulating effect of Botox on the surrounding muscle. A tremendeous amount of research has been performed since the first patients reported an improvement of their migraines who were treated with Botox for wrinkles of the forehead. Many patients experienced a reduction or complete resolution of their migraine headaches. Botox for migraines is now an approved indication for the treatment of headaches.
While the effects of Botulinum toxin on wrinkles has been well known, Botox was also noted to reduce sweat production. Botulinum toxin has been also successfully used to treat excessive sweating, i.e. hyperhidrosis. Treatment of the underarms with Botox can dramatically reduce or completely stop sweating for the duration of several months in the treated area.

What are the Different Types of Botox?

Botox Cosmetic has been the first botulinum toxin being introduced to the aesthetic field, and has therefore a long track record regarding safety, and effectiveness. Other brands have been introduced onto the market showing simularities regarding onset, duration, diffusion and effectiveness.

Botox Treatment in Frankfurt

The best cosmetic botulinum toxin treatment is one that is personalized to your anatomy, your particular areas of concern, and your unique wishes. Reducing, rather than eliminating, muscle action with Botulinum toxin, by subtly and naturally balancing a softer and more rejuvenated appearance while still maintaining natural expression is always the goal. Botulinum toxin unfolds its full effect onto the muscles about 7 days after injection. The effect of Botulinum toxin will gradually dissipate within the next three to six months, and is completely reversible. First treatments are always conservative, as it is preferable to start gently, and it is easy to increase a Botox dose or expand treatment areas at a later date. The treatment with Botulinum toxin is very effective, fast, and easy, with is no downtime. Botox has been used for decades and has an impeccable safety record since it was introduced.
