ARM LIFT – MODERN ADVANCED TECHNIQUES IN FRANKFURT/GERMANY

Patients seeking an arm lift, also called brachioplasty, with Dr Bianca Knoll in Frankfurt are unhappy with the shape and contour of their upper arms. Patients considering an arm lift are often discouraged despite living a healthy, active lifestyle and working out, that the appearance of the upper arms will only improve to a certain degree. Patients seeking an arm lift dislike the „batwing“ appearance of their upper arms, caused by excess, loose skin and fat mainly of the inferior portion of their upper arms. The „batwing“ appearance of the upper arm can be either the result of weight loss, aging, or hormonal changes. Most of these patients are hesitant or completely avoiding wearing, short-sleeved or sleeveless tops, because they dislike the shape of their upper arms. At the same time, some patients are hesitant undergoing an arm lift because of the visible scarring along the upper arm, associated with traditional arm lift procedures, which makes it also difficult to wear short-sleeved or sleeveless tops.
Many patients that Dr. Bianca Knoll sees in her office for an arm lift consultation do not have to undergo the traditional brachioplasty procedure associated with a long scar along the upper arms. Many patients are great candidates for a short-scar arm lift procedure, an advanced, modern arm lift surgery technique avoiding the scar along the upper arm.

The goal of a short-scar arm lift procedure, combined with liposuction, is to achieve a well contoured upper arm that is proportionate to your body. Dr Bianca Knoll is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Frankfurt / Germany who has extensive experience performing arm lift and body contouring procedures by using modern and advanced surgical techniques.

WHAT IS A SHORT-SCAR ARM LIFT?

A short-scar arm lift is a brachioplasty procedure with a less visible scar placed in the armpit and is combined with liposuction. This combination allows in many cases to avoid a scar along the upper arm. The short-scar arm lift procedure is an advanced technique of brachioplasties allowing reshaping and contouring of the upper arms with a less conspicious scar. The best candidates for a short-scar arm lift with liposuction are patients with a good to moderate skin elasticity and amounts of fatty tissue.

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR AN ARM LIFT PROCEDURE?

Arrmlift procedure with minimal scars in the armpit by Dr Knoll in Frankfurt GermanyIf liposuction of the upper arm will not be sufficient enough to correct the excess skin you are a candidate for an arm lift. Successful liposuction contouring relies on good skin elasticity. Therefore liposuction only procedures are often an option for younger patients with minimal to no loose skin and mild to moderate amounts of fatty tissue.

SHORT-SCAR ARM LIFT

The short-scar arm lift is a great procedure for patients with moderate amounts of excess skin and fatty tissue who have still some good skin turgor (elasticity). This is often the case in patients who have undergone some weight loss, or being in their 40’s to 50’s undergoing some age related changes. A short-scar arm lift is a very powerful procedure if combined with liposuction of the upper arms.

TRADITIONAL ARM LIFT

A traditional arm lift will remove severe skin excess of the upper arms after massive weight loss. A traditional arm lift can be extended to the lateral chest wall, or combined with liposuction as well to correct additional loose skin or fat in that area. The incision of a traditional arm lift goes along the entire upper arm and if extended, along the lateral chest wall.

Some patients are not ideal candidates for one of these 3 options. This will make them good candidates for an arm lift technique that is in between, or an extended version of these surgical arm lift techniques. In order to find out which arm lift procedure is ideal for you please contact the office of Dr Bianca Knoll in Frankfurt to learn more about your options.

WHAT TO EXPECT UNDERGOING AN ARM LIFT?

Many advancements have been made in brachioplasty procedures regarding efficiency, improved pain control, safety, lesser morbidity, and wound care. An arm lift is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes between 2-4 hours depending on your case. Most arm lift procedures are performed without using drains. In very rare circumstances JP-drains will be used. A brachioplasty  can be performed safely in an ambulatory setting. Depending if the arm lift is combined with other procedures, your general health, and your personal comfort, an overnight stay in the hospital might be preferred to monitor your recovery and to provide adequate pain control. After your brachioplasty procedure you will wear a garment for about 6 weeks supporting your wound healing process. After your arm lift procedure you will have some swelling and bruising, which gradually subsides within the following weeks. During that time Dr Knoll and her team will see you regularly in her Frankfurt office to accompany you during the wound healing process. You will be limited in your physical activities during your immediate post-operative period to ensure adequate wound healing. The success of an arm lift procedure is clearly dependent on the meticulous planning, a patient’s realistic expectations and compliance, and skilled surgical performance of your surgery. Dr Bianca Knoll and her staff will have your best interest at heart, and will do everything they can to have your surgery go well, and your recovery proceed smoothly, safely and with the least amount of discomfort possible.

Dr Knoll and her team will be happy to provide you with further information about your arm lift procedure and answer your questions during your consultation in our office.

ARM LIFT COST

Given all the possible variations of an arm lift procedure, it is quiet difficult to provide any estimated costs without having examined and talked to the patient. The costs of the surgery will vary depending on the complexity, length of the procedure and the details involved. Usually there are 3 different costs associated with a surgery; the surgeon’s fee, hospital fee, and anesthesia fee.

During your office consultation with Dr. Bianca Knoll you will be thoroughly examined, allowing us to provide you with information pertaining to surgery, post-operative expectations, and the cost associated with your individualized surgery plan. For these reasons a consultation in our Frankfurt office is strongly encouraged. We understand that it can be impartial for some of our out of town/ international patients to travel to Frankfurt for an initial consultation. For this reason, Dr. Knoll offers online consultations. By submitting a series of photographs, information about your desired outcome, and a little about yourself, we can start to determine if you are a good candidate. Though a virtual consultation starts the conversation, it does have it’s limitations and does not replace the need to be seen in person for a traditional consultation to finalize plans for a procedure.
