PRIMARY RHINOPLASTY in Frankfurt, Germany
Rhinoplasty, also known as nose job or nose reshaping is among Dr. Bianca Knoll’s favorite operative procedures. Changing the size and shape of a nose can alter the appearance of a face quite positively. Important concepts in rhinoplasty surgery include thorough anatomic analysis, functional assessment, and a defined, individualized, and inclusive treatment plan. These steps are required for optimal results.
WHAT CAN BE ACHIEVED WITH A RHINOPLASTY ?
Patients seeking a rhinoplasty procedure, do this for several reasons. Patients that are generally pleased with their appearance, who would like to maintain their type, just seeking small improvements, to achieve a more balanced, proportionate appearance, where the nose blends more aesthetically into their face. Other patients seeking rhinoplasty are looking for a more involved changes, changing the type of the appearance in a more compelling way. A rhinoplasty can address many features and it’s underlying structures of the nose:
- Tip of the nose — often appearing bulbous, boxy or droopy (especially when smiling). The width of the nose (alar widening or narrowing), the rotation and the projection of the nasal tip can be altered.
- Dorsal hump, widening of the nose, irregular appearance, and deviation
- Breathing difficulties
Dr Knoll performs a comprehensive preoperative facial analysis to understand your underlying nasal and facial anatomy and its proportions to each other. The goal of a rhinoplasty procedure is to balance proportions, nicely blending your nose into your face, and to achieve your desired result. This is a critical step, since the relationship of your underlying facial bone structures, like your chin, cheekbones, position of your mandible to the maxilla, and even the transition of your nasal root to the forehead play an important role in creating an aesthetically pleasing, harmonious rhinoplasty result. The approach in modern rhinoplasty is not to perform a standardized surgical procedure, but rather taking an individual approach addressing the patients personal and anatomical needs. This is where the craniofacial background of Dr Knoll will work in your favor, not only being able to diagnose those features, but also being able to surgically alternate them if necessary.
At the same time, the functional pre operative assessment of your nasal airway and its preservation during surgery is important. Having a beautiful looking nose, that you have difficulties breathing through, is of no help to you.
OPEN OR CLOSED RHINOPLASTY
There are 2 general approaches to rhinoplasty surgery: open and closed. The open rhinoplasty approach offers the best control and reshaping capabilities, but it does have a scar associated with it – albeit very thin, and barely, if even noticeable at the base of the nose. An open rhinoplasty approach is often the preferred surgical procedure by Dr Knoll, since most patients seek more complex changes. The closed approach is good, but can be limiting to a surgeon in their ability to refine the structure of the nasal tip, and the dorsum. The advantage of this approach however, is that there is no external scar. Based on your personal desires and anatomic needs, Dr. Knoll will choose the right rhinoplasty and appropriate surgical approach for you.
ONE DAY PROCEDURE OR HOSPITAL STAY
The success of a rhinoplasty procedure is clearly dependent on the meticulous planning and skilled surgical performance of your surgery. Most of Dr Knoll’s rhinoplasty procedures can be performed safely in an ambulatory setting. The rhinoplasty procedure will be performed under general anesthesia, and will take about +/-3 hours. If additional procedures are being performed at the same time, surgery time will be increasing. Depending on your general health, length and type of the procedure and your personal comfort an overnight stay in the hospital might be necessary. We are happy to provide you with further information about the procedure and answer your questions during your consultation in my office.
Unfortunately, it is quiet difficult to provide any estimated costs of a rhinoplasty without having examined and talked to the patient. The costs of the surgery will vary depending on the complexity, length of the procedure and the details involved. Usually there are 3 different costs associated with a surgery; the surgeon’s fee, hospital fee, and anesthesia fee.
During your office consultation with Dr. Bianca Knoll you will be thoroughly examined, allowing us to provide you with information pertaining to surgery, post operative expectations, and the cost associated with your individualized surgery plan. For these reasons a consultation in our Frankfurt office is strongly encouraged. You will be thoroughly examined and provided with all the information you will need, and how much it will cost. We understand that it can be impartial for some of our out of town/ international patients to travel to Frankfurt for an initial consultation. For this reason, Dr. Knoll offers online consultations. By submitting a series of photographs, information about your desired outcome, and a little about yourself, we can start to determine if you are a good candidate. Though a virtual consultation stars the conversation, it does have it’s limitations and does not replace the need to be seen in person for a traditional consultation to finalize plans for a procedure.
During your consultation Dr Knoll will carefully listen to your concerns, examine you and thoroughly analyse your facial features. She will then discuss this with you, and explain your available options. The ideal rhinoplasty candidates are healthy patients seeking improvement, but not „Adobe Photoshop like“ perfection of the appearance of their nose. Dr. Knoll will be honest about realistic expectations, obtainable results, potential risks and benefits associated with a rhinoplasty procedure. Medical photographs will be performed. The computer imaging is part of Dr. Bianca Knoll’s rhinoplasty consultations in her Frankfurt office. After your consultation appointment, you will receive several computer simulations, based on Dr Knoll’s analysis and your goals that had been discussed. The imaged simulations will serve as an educational tool, to help you to understand your options and facial proportions, and to discuss your preferences. You will also receive further information about any type of preoperative testing required and additional information about the procedure.
